Taking credit

I was watching the evening news about Obama’s European tour and G20 meeting, the newscaster announced that it’s a good thing that the president is reaching out to other countries because many people in the world blame the US for the failing global economy.  All I can say is “thanks, we’ll take credit for that”.  Thanks for esteeming us so highly, and deeming us so powerful that the well being of the world hinges on our actions.  We’ll also take the credit for the prior decades of global prosperity experienced in industrialized nations.  After all, it is true that much of our invention and innovation is the benefactor of modernized civilization.  Global labor statistics show that Americans are the most productive workers on the planet.  We put in more hours, endure more stress, and produce more work output, and invent more new beneficial ideas than anyone in any country, anywhere.  While this may sound arrogant, it’s just the facts.  And while they call us ‘ugly Americans’ when they see us on vacation, they can just remember that we are wiped out from working so much, and are spending our hard-earned money in their country thereby contributing to the benefit of their economy.  We work hard for our pay, and we expect others to do so as well.  Our demanding demeanor is just the reflection of the expectations that we put on ourselves.  It is a reflection of what makes us prosperous. Best Investment

A friend of mine recently shared with me a letter that he received from one of our State Senators. This letter was sent to him in response to my friend’s comments on the fallacy of the stimulus bill and his extreme displeasure over the debt-sponsored welfare therein.  The letter he received (obviously a form letter) touted all the wonderful benefits of the stimulus plan, and the projections of how much it will improve the economy. One such projection is one of the best benefits, perhaps one of the best investments that I’ve ever heard.  I think the liberals are on to something.

The Senator’s letter claimed of the stimulus plan’s investment: “For every dollar spent on unemployment insurance benefits, $1.63 in economic activity is generated, and for food stamps it is $1.73 for each dollar spent.” Well, there it is folks. This is the answer to all our money problems. This is the investment of a lifetime. Imagine getting a 63-73% return on investment! It’s almost unheard of. Why aren’t they putting the whole stimulus package into these areas? It would turn around the economy in no time, and far out-pace the debt interest. They should put all the investment funding of social security into these areas too. That’ll save that crisis too. I know where I’m putting what’s left of my 401K now.

For the conservative readers, you already know the math doesn’t work, and the Senator’s claims are specious at best.  For you liberal pinheads, I’ve been employing sarcasm.  You may recognize sarcasm as a form of communication that you may recall studying in your liberal arts literature course if you weren’t too stoned at the time.  Apparently the liberal leaders that you’ve seen fit to be elected to office flunked out of their math class, and this has effectively played into their understanding of political science.  It appears they believe that paying people not to work will generate wealth, and that paying for people’s food rather than paying people to produce food will lead to prosperity.  Morons.

Change we just can’t believe: VA Benefits

A recent CNN article states that President Barack Hussein Obama “is still considering a proposal to have treatment for service-connected injuries charged to veterans’ private insurance plans” for injured Veterans.  What a slip in the face!  These are the people who keep our country free at the hardest level, and gave their all.  Now the president wants to shirk our responsibility to them.

A friend of mine called this Liberal Hypocrisy at its best stating, “ ‘Obama’, the president who feels that every person in America should have health insurance from the government, including illegal aliens, criminals, crack heads, and list goes on and on, but now government insurance is too good for our wounded veterans

I am of the opinion that this really coming from his liberal core.  He’s anti-war or anti-defense, whichever you wish to call it.  I don’t relish war, but sometimes it’s necessary for our nation’s defense.   Our soldiers who gave their all understand this.  Why can’t their commander-in-chief?

Update 20090319: Turns out last night he just couldn’t implement the change he wanted, and caved to the pressure.  Good thing.  Although he wasn’t compelled by the sense to do what is right, but he was compelled by the true government of this country – We the People.

RKBA Misunderstanding

I am really getting tired of hearing the diversionary response of spineless politicians when asked if they support the Second Amendment of our Constitution.  Quite often they will say, and I quote, “I am in favor of protecting the rights of hunters and sportsmen”.  This is a politically-correct but wimpy response.  You won’t hear this from the anti-gun extremists or unashamedly fascist politicians who are against all gun ownership except for government agents. You will hear this response from moderates and any politician who seeking re-election because it upsets the smallest number of people. Unfortunately this clever change-of-the-subject actually placates people who aren’t listening closely enough. What’s even worse is that it completely diverts attention from the purpose and intent of the Second Amendment.

I have an announcement to make:  “The purpose of Second Amendment of the Constitution is not focused on hunters and sportsmen, it’s focused on defense.”

The second amendment covers two lines of defense as derived contextually throughout the Amendment itself and the entire Bill of Rights.  The first line of defense is national defense.  After all, it is pretty fearsome for an enemy to attack a nation who not only has a well-armed defense force, but a well-armed citizenry.  The second line of defense is self-defense.  When national defense is not the issue, there is still a need for personal protection against predators, criminals, and yes “contextually speaking to the Bill of Rights” tyrants.  The Second Amendment protects all the rest.  It keeps a free people free. It does not talk about hunters and sportsmen, it talks about defense, and it’s about time that the politicians who swore to uphold and defend the Constitution against all enemies foreign and domestic live up to their oath and get behind the idea of preserving the right of personal defense of private citizens.  Hunters and sportsmen have been around since the creation of humans, and simply benefit from the advancement of weapon technology.

When asked about their support of the Second Amendment, their answer should be “I fully support the right of our nation to defend itself.  I also fully support the right of individual citizens to keep and bear arms to defend themselves, and will not enact laws that limit or hinder this.”  if they don’t answer this way, they are in violation of their oath, they are bordering on treason, and they should be removed from office for not protecting or even working to violate our rights as citizens.

Dropping like a Ba-ROCK!

Our new president has already started trying to indicate he was handed a mess from the previous administration, but we all know there are other factors involved.  Essentially the same guys who ran the Congressional committees for finance have been there, and are still there.  And several people who are his top level advisers are the same people who drive Fannie Mae and Freddie Mack into the ground while taking huge bonuses that would make a Fortune 500 CEO blush with shame.  Now they are all working together, and it seems every time Obama opens his mouth, the stock market makes a severe plummet.  And when he keeps his mouth shut, things start to trickle back up.  Check out this Fox news story. The guy is breaking records.
